Djokovic/Murray in the 2nd round in Geneva?
As announced yesterday, Novak Djokovic has decided to shake things up by lining up in Geneva next week. Accustomed to not playing in the weeks leading up to a Grand Slam, 'Nole' has made an exception this year, as he will be competing in Geneva.
The draw for the Swiss tournament was made on Friday and revealed another surprise. For his first appearance, the world number 1 could well find himself up against a player he knows like the back of his hand. Exempted from the first round (seeded number 1 in the tournament), he will face the winner of the duel between Yannick Hanfmann (59th) and Andy Murray (77th, invited by the organizers) in his first match. So, if the Scot gets through his first match, Geneva could offer us a 32nd career clash between the two immense champions, Djokovic and Murray (25 wins to 11 for the Serb).
In addition to this nostalgia-filled match, the French Open titleholder could find himself up against the likes of Denis Shapovalov, Tallon Griekspoor, Taylor Fritz and Casper Ruud.
Stay tuned!
