Lehecka takes command against Nadal
For the moment, Jiri Lehecka is spoiling the party in Madrid.
A very aggressive Jiri Lehecka won the first act against a good Nadal (7-5 in 58 minutes). In a match of good quality, the Czech didn't seem at all intimidated by the event. Faced with a Rafael Nadal who was up to the task but not aggressive enough, the 22-year-old waited for his moment to break at the best of times before concluding.
The king of clay, who looked much better than in the previous round, lacked the bite to threaten the world number 31. Lehecka, more aggressive than ever, didn't hesitate to hit winners and make mistakes. His choice paid off, as he is now one set away from the quarter-finals.
Nadal, for his part, has his back against the wall and will have to come from a set down if he is to continue his Madrid adventure. Faced with an established opponent, it's going to be a tough task for the Majorcan!
