Garbiñe Muguruza retires!

Garbiñe Muguruza retires!

Garbiñe Muguruza will not be resuming her career. At the age of 30, the former world No.1, who has not appeared on the WTA Tour since January 2023, announced this Saturday that she was retiring from professional tennis.

In a 13-year career, the Spaniard won 10 WTA singles titles, including the French Open in 2016 and Wimbledon in 2017. She held the world No. 1 ranking for 4 weeks in 2017 and accumulated almost $25 million in prize money.

Garbiñe Muguruza: "I've had a long and beautiful career. With lots of annecdotes to remember.

But I feel it's time to open a new stage, a new era in my life.

I've made the decision bit by bit. Every day I feel better and I don't miss the circuit at all.

I was nervous, I wanted to say it. I feel good, even if the word retirement is a bit strong."

I think this will be Andys last year. What a roller coaster been your biggest fan. And if only for that injury, what else might you have achieved.
