Auger-Aliassime Reveals the Keys to His Success: I Feel More Mature and with a Different Mindset

Félix Auger-Aliassime qualified for his second semifinal at the Rolex Paris Masters by ending Valentin Vacherot's winning streak in Masters 1000 events.

After ten consecutive wins in Masters 1000 tournaments between his title in Shanghai and Paris, Vacherot fell. The Monegasque simply came up against a stronger opponent in the quarterfinals of the Rolex Paris Masters and was dominated by an excellent Félix Auger-Aliassime (6-2, 6-2).

The Canadian, ranked 10th in the world, qualified for the semifinals for the second time in his career at this tournament, three years after his defeat at the gates of the final against Holger Rune. The 25-year-old player reacted after his qualification against Vacherot.

"I started the season very well after a good physical preparation, but I lost confidence in myself after several painful defeats. From there, I started to feel like I was playing very good tennis, but the demands are so high today that it doesn't mean you will automatically get results.

Right now, all the work done is paying off. In this tournament, I am able to implement my game plan and apply it, to find solutions when necessary, and to stay focused. I always believed that my place was among the best players in the world, even when things were going badly.

Until the age of 22, I thought everything was perfect, but from that point on, I had to deal with injuries and another series of problems that pushed me to take control of my life. Now, I feel more mature and with a different mindset.

I feel that my serve is much more dangerous indoors and that I can be more consistent. I still have a lot of work to do to not lose my rhythm regardless of the playing conditions. I hope that my indoor level can also be the same outdoors in the future," Auger-Aliassime stated in recent hours for Punto de Break.
