Blinkova takes a double bubble in Limoges in 42 minutes!
In the final match of the round of 16 at the WTA 125 in Limoges, Varvara Lepchenko defeated Anna Blinkova with two bubbles (6-0, 6-0) in just 42 minutes of play.
Sometimes, on the ATP and WTA circuits, there are matches with unexpected scenarios.
Such was the case this evening in the round of 16 in Limoges, where Lepchenko, ranked 138th in the world, faced Blinkova, ranked 75th in the world and seeded no.4 in the tournament.
Blinkova, who this year had upset Rybakina at the Australian Open and Pegula at Indian Wells, missed her match completely, winning just 24% of points on her first serve and conceding six breaks.
The Russian had even beaten Lepchenko just over a month ago in a quarter-final at the WTA 125 in Tampico.
It was an express victory for Lepchenko, who at 38 continues to perform mainly on the secondary circuit.
She will face Nuria Parrizas Diaz tomorrow for a place in the semi-finals in Limoges.
