Wave of Withdrawals in Metz: After Medvedev, Two New Pullouts Shake the Tournament
Withdrawals are piling up at the Moselle Open even before the tournament begins. After Daniil Medvedev, it's Tallon Griekspoor and Tomas Machac who have thrown in the towel. And the threat looms over Alexander Bublik and Félix Auger-Aliassime…
Withdrawals are coming one after another in Metz. Barely had the draw been made and the qualifiers started, the organizers of the Moselle Open already have to deal with several major withdrawals.
After Daniil Medvedev earlier on Saturday, two new pullouts have been added: Tallon Griekspoor, who was set to face Aleksandar Kovacevic in the first round, and Tomas Machac, scheduled to play against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
These absences offer the opportunity for three lucky losers to enter the main draw. Last year, the tournament already experienced a record wave of withdrawals with thirteen pullouts.
While we are still far from that, other absences—notably those of Alexander Bublik or Félix Auger-Aliassime, in case of a title win in Paris—could still disrupt the Metz draw.
