Kyrgios on his early career: "It all happened very quickly".

Kyrgios on his early career: It all happened very quickly.

Nick Kyrgios shared his memories of the start of his professional career: "It all happened very quickly. My father told me to stop playing basketball and start playing tennis. Tennis is very developed in Australia.

When I was 19, I had just finished school and was playing Challenger. About a week later, I beat Nadal.

I looked at the list of players who had won a Challenger at the age of 18. There were people like Federer and Dimitrov, but I told myself there was no way I could be like them.

I was healthy, I played video games, I hardly exercised, I ate very badly. I'd never dreamed of any of this."

Kyrgios' last match on the ATP Tour was in June 2023, his only match this year. His return is expected for 2025 during the Australian season.
