Tickets Sold in 8 Minutes: Halep's 2026 Farewell Match a Huge Success in Romania

After retiring last February, Simona Halep will return for a farewell match in Cluj-Napoca in June 2026. An event that is set to draw a crowd in Romania.

A big name in tennis in recent years, Halep ended her career at the start of the season. The former world number 1, winner of two Grand Slam titles (Roland-Garros 2018 and Wimbledon 2019), played the final match of her illustrious career in the first round of the WTA 250 in Cluj-Napoca against Lucia Bronzetti (6-1, 6-1) at the beginning of the season.

Following that match, the 34-year-old player took the microphone and announced to a stunned audience the immediate end of her career. But Halep will return to the Romanian city next year for one last match as a farewell. It will take place on June 13, 2026, in Cluj-Napoca, and the event is already generating great interest in the country.

Indeed, the first 1200 tickets sold were snapped up in 8 minutes, as confirmed by the Instagram account of the Sports Festival organizing the match. 300 new tickets will be put on sale in the coming hours.
