Auger-Aliassime after his victory over Shelton: "I had to stay calm, focused and disciplined on every point"
Under pressure after losing the first set against Ben Shelton, Félix Auger-Aliassime managed to keep his composure. "I knew I had to keep my calm and be patient," he shared after his win in Turin.
Félix Auger-Aliassime scored a nice victory against Ben Shelton on the second day of the Björn Borg group at the Masters. The Canadian, after losing the first set, did not give up and narrowly won the next two sets (4-6, 7-6, 7-5).
Speaking in the mixed zone, Auger-Aliassime, who can still dream of a spot in the tournament's final four, discussed his approach to the match with journalist José Morgado:
"This morning, I woke up telling myself that I had to stay calm, focused and disciplined on every point. I also had to be ready to adapt, being aggressive when necessary and more in control at other times.
It was a tricky match because he (Shelton) was also playing with the conviction that he had to win. He fought until the end. I'm happy that things turned out in my favor."
