Shelton, eliminated from the Masters, reflects on 2025: There are many reasons to be satisfied this year

Ben Shelton is officially out of the running to reach the semi-finals of the ATP Finals, but he hasn't forgotten all the good things he has achieved since the start of the season.

2025 has been a very important year in Shelton's career. The 23-year-old American broke into the top 10 for the first time, also winning his first Masters 1000 title in Toronto during the summer.

Making his debut at the ATP Finals, the world number 5 came within two points of victory against Félix Auger-Aliassime on Wednesday afternoon, but ultimately lost in a thrilling match (4-6, 7-6, 7-5).

Officially eliminated from the tournament even before facing Jannik Sinner this Friday to conclude the group stage, Shelton took stock of his year, which has been very positive for him.

"If I had to rate my season, I'd give myself an 8 out of 10. I made huge progress compared to last year. The rhythm I found for about three-quarters of the season was really good.

I had a very clear vision of my tennis during the summer. I'm still searching for that, especially as the last four tournaments haven't been good. Overall, I'm playing good tennis but some things aren't quite clicking.

This week, it was my forehand. But there are many reasons to be satisfied this year," he stated in recent hours after the match against the Canadian to ATP media.
