Alcaraz and Nadal React to Lindsey Vonn's Shocking 13-Second Olympic Crash at Age 41
For her Olympic comeback at age 41, skier Lindsey Vonn suffered a major disappointment, crashing brutally after just 13 seconds in Sunday's women's downhill.
Air-lifted directly to the hospital by helicopter, the American now suffers from a broken leg.
Support from Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal
Following this unfortunate incident, many athletes reacted, including Carlos Alcaraz, finalist at the Paris Olympics, and Rafael Nadal, 2008 Olympic champion.
"We're thinking of you, Lindsey," Alcaraz wrote in an Instagram story.
"Lindsey, you are a great source of inspiration and an example of perseverance. Stay strong and get well soon!" Nadal posted on X.
As a reminder, just days before the Games, the veteran had already suffered an ACL tear. But despite that, she refused to withdraw.
Her palmarès includes 1 gold medal from Vancouver 2010 (downhill) and a bronze from Pyeongchang 2018 (downhill), plus two world championship titles from Val d'Isère 2009 (downhill and super-G).
This was also her fifth Olympic Games.
