Alcaraz on his injuries during the 2024 clay season: "I didn't know when I would return, which created doubt in me"
Carlos Alcaraz had a successful 2024. After winning Roland-Garros and Wimbledon, the Spanish world number 3 also triumphed at Indian Wells and won the silver medal at the Paris Olympics.
But in a podcast aired on the YouTube channel MoluscoTV, the Iberian champion revealed that he had moments of doubt during the season, especially on a physical level.
After twisting his ankle in Rio, Alcaraz did not have the ideal clay season, having suffered a forearm injury.
"I had a lot of doubts about whether I would feel good again. My worst moment in tennis, I think, was in 2024 when I injured my forearm on clay in April.
I had to miss several tournaments that I was really looking forward to playing, especially in my country, Spain. I had a lot of doubts about whether I would feel good again, whether I could hit the ball normally because it was bothering me.
Weeks went by. The doctors had told me: 'You'll see, in two weeks, you'll be able to play perfectly.'
The two weeks passed, but I was still in pain, which created doubt in me because I didn't know when I would return.
I didn't know if I would be able to hit my forehand or my other shots normally again. And there were very important tournaments coming up," Alcaraz stated.
