American-Heavy Draw in Dallas: Fritz, Shelton, Paul, and Tien Learn Their Fate, Shapovalov to Defend Title
The ATP 500 season kicks off next week with tournaments in Rotterdam and Dallas.
In Texas, unsurprisingly, the draw will largely feature American players, with 16 currently entered. Taylor Fritz is the top seed, set for a first-round clash against his compatriot Marcos Giron.
Several All-American Matchups
Thus, several all-American duels will take place right away: Tommy Paul will take on Jenson Brooksby, Aleksandar Kovacevic faces Reilly Opelka, Michael Zheng meets Sebastian Korda, and Trevor Svajda goes up against Ethan Quinn.
Among the seeded players, Frances Tiafoe starts against Terence Atmane, Ben Shelton meets Gabriel Diallo, Learner Tien must get past Marin Cilic, and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina faces a qualifier, as does defending champion Denis Shapovalov.
Mannarino Also in the Mix
Adrian Mannarino, who qualified for the final in Montpellier, will have to follow up with a first-round match against Australian Adam Walton. For now, the French veteran is scheduled to play in Texas, but a withdrawal is not out of the question.
