Another Withdrawal and a Concern Ahead of the Australian Open: Fonseca Pulls Out of Adelaide Tournament
João Fonseca is struggling with his back. The 19-year-old Brazilian, who hasn't played since the Paris Masters at the end of last season, is forced to withdraw from another tournament.
Already absent from the Next Gen ATP Finals and the ATP 250 tournament in Brisbane, the world No. 29, who was entered in Adelaide next week, pulled out just minutes before the draw.
Fonseca Aims to Be at His Best for Melbourne
Still not fully recovered from his back discomfort, the winner of the Buenos Aires and Basel tournaments in 2025 will arrive at the Australian Open without having played any preparation tournament and not at his peak form.
"I'm feeling better, but it's hard to say I'm at 100%. I'll do my best to be 100% at the Australian Open. The decision hasn't been made yet," the player himself stated to justify his withdrawal from Adelaide.
