What if your tennis knowledge was worth 10 million Australian dollars?

At the 2026 Australian Open, organizers have decided to launch a completely unprecedented challenge: successfully predict an entire singles draw without a single error.

10 Million Australian Dollars

For the 2026 Australian Open (January 18 to February 1), Tennis Australia is putting an astronomical sum on the table: 10 million Australian dollars, approximately 5.74 million euros, for anyone capable of predicting a complete singles draw, men's or women's.

The concept, dubbed the Bracket Challenge, will run from January 15 to 18, just before the tournament kicks off.

The principle is simple on paper but terribly difficult in reality: guess the outcome of all 127 matches in a draw, without making a single mistake.

A Probability That Borders on Science Fiction

To measure the scale of the challenge, one number is enough: 1.7 × 10³⁸. This is the estimated probability of achieving a perfect bracket (127 matches each with two possible outcomes).

In other words, it is statistically more likely to win the lottery multiple times than to predict an entire Grand Slam draw.

"Rewarding Tennis Knowledge"

Despite infinitesimal odds, Tennis Australia fully embraces this spectacular initiative.

In a statement, Cedric Cornelis, the organization's commercial director, summarized the spirit of the project:

"This Bracket Challenge aims to reward tennis knowledge and create an exciting new way for fans to engage with the tournament."

Finally, if no one achieves a perfect bracket, the tournament will not abandon the best strategists.

Consolation prizes are planned, with 10,000 Australian dollars awarded to the top predictors of the men's and women's draws.

Despite top-10 ATP rankings and consistent excellence, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Gaël Monfils, Richard Gasquet, and Gilles Simon never claimed a Grand Slam title, enduring mockery from French media amid Big 3 dominance. A deep dive into a talented generation defined by sky-high expectations and brutal competition.

As much as I love watching Alcaraz at his best, I'd love to see Alex taking this, he's such a tryer, and getting married and his humour and humility...

Favoritism?

Last year: Sinner seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 2.

This year: Alcaraz seed 1, the organizers schedule Alcaraz on day 1, Sinner on day 3.

That means: 7 matches in 15 days for Alcaraz, 7 in 13 days for Sinner; and no rest day for Sinner between quarter and semis, 1 full day rest for Alcaraz.

Also, on the first very hot day, the organizers schedule Sinner...
