Azarenka provides update on her injury after Miami and hints at a return date
Injured in Miami during the second round against Muchova, Azarenka had to retire at the start of the second set (6-0 in the first set for the Czech player). The Belarusian was suffering from shoulder pain.
On Instagram, the two-time Australian Open champion gave an update on her condition:
"I just wanted to give a quick update on my injury and rehab. I just left the clay court, and I played six days this week, slowly progressing toward regular form. I feel like it’s moving along pretty well."
The former world No. 1 also hinted at a possible return date:
"I’m still not quite at 100%, but I feel like we’ve taken the right steps to get me feeling better, to do the right things, and already play tennis.
So I’ll keep you posted. I hope to be ready to play in Madrid (April 22 to May 4), that’s the goal, but I’ll keep you updated."
