A two-time winner of the Barcelona tournament (1975 and 1977), Borg received the Off-Court Award on Monday, honoring the influence he has had on the tournament’s history, as well as celebrating the 50th anniversary of his first victory here.
Additionally, the Swede was set to be honored during Tuesday’s session on the center court (Pista Rafa Nadal).
Unfortunately, this event will not take place, as the 68-year-old has decided to leave Barcelona earlier than planned.
It is also worth noting that Leo Borg, the legend’s son, received a wildcard to compete in the tournament’s qualifying rounds but lost to Fearnley (7-5, 7-6).
