Bautista-Agut Shares His Advice for Alcaraz: I Don’t Think Carlos Will Win Grand Slams by Going to Bed at Seven in the Morning

Roberto Bautista-Agut was eliminated from the Madrid Masters 1000 this Friday, defeated by world No. 2 Alexander Zverev.

During the press conference, the Spanish veteran was asked about the Netflix documentary on Carlos Alcaraz and the ambitions of the El Palmar native:

"High-level tennis is very demanding. I don’t think Carlos will win Grand Slams by going to bed at seven in the morning.

Right now, it’s all good—he’s very young, everything is fine—but he needs to understand that if he wants to match the numbers of the Big 3, he has to play at an elite level for fifteen years.

I see him as an intelligent person, and I’m sure little by little he’ll realize what he needs to do to stay at that level and apply it."

Roberto Bautista Agut
56e, 969 points
Carlos Alcaraz
3e, 7850 points
