Bublik on Facing Musetti in Hong Kong Final: 'It Will Be a Really Difficult Match'
The top two seeds of the tournament, Lorenzo Musetti and Alexander Bublik, will face off in what promises to be an unpredictable final in Hong Kong (Sunday, 8:30 a.m. French time).
On one side, the Italian seeking a title that has eluded him for three years. On the other, a Bublik riding the best season of his career and now a member of the world's Top 10.
Bublik in Boss Mode
Facing American Marcos Giron in the semifinals, Alexander Bublik once again proved he is much more than just a showman.
After a rough start with the loss of the first set, the Kazakh dug deep mentally to turn the match around (3-6, 6-4, 6-2).
Asked after the match, the 28-year-old player gave an analysis of his performance while also discussing the upcoming match against Musetti:
"I stayed calm and managed my emotions well in the first two matches. Today, I struggled in the first set... and I also broke my racket.
I tried to leave all the negative energy behind and play more focused from the second set onward."
'It Will Be a Really Difficult Final'
"Regarding Musetti, it will be a really difficult final. Lorenzo comes from the ATP Finals and played very well last year. It will be a good battle... and I hope also a good battle."
A mutual respect, but also a subtle psychological warfare, typical of major showdowns.
The stage is set in Hong Kong. Now it remains to be seen who will write the final line of this week.
