Crowned in São Paulo, Rakotomanga advances and reaches the round of sixteen in Caldas da Rainha
At only 19 years old, Tiantsoa Rakotomanga made a strong impression by winning her first WTA title in São Paulo. After a tough start in Caldas da Rainha, she showed resilience to continue her journey in Portugal.
Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah experienced the best week of her career last week at the WTA 125 tournament in São Paulo. The French player won her first title on the main circuit against Janice Tjen in the final (6-3, 6-4), after being very close to elimination in the first round against Ana Sofia Sanchez.
But the world No. 131 didn't have time to celebrate. The left-hander is indeed in Portugal to participate in the WTA 125 tournament in Caldas da Rainha. Facing Swiss player Valentina Ryser, ranked 252nd in the WTA, Rakotomanga took one set before getting into her match, but eventually turned the game around (1-6, 6-2, 6-3 in 1h35).
She thus qualifies for the round of sixteen, where she will face Carol Young Suh Lee. As the 7th seed of this tournament, she is now aiming for a second title in two weeks in the coming days.
