Efremova, stunning in New Delhi, qualifies for the final of the Indian tournament
Ksenia Efremova lived up to her ranking this Saturday. The world number 736 indeed got the better of young Indian wild card Shruti Ahlawat in the semifinals of the New Delhi tournament.
Despite losing the first set, the 16-year-old French player found the resources to turn the situation around. She ultimately wins (3-6, 6-4, 6-1 in 2h07) and qualifies for the final.
Efremova will face a top 300 player for the title in New Delhi
After learning of her wild card for the Australian Open qualifiers next month, Efremova is building confidence this week. She had previously beaten Polina Skopintseva (6-0, 6-2), Vaishnavi Adkar (7-5, 3-6, 6-4) and Viktoria Morvayova (4-6, 6-3, 6-3) in this New Delhi tournament.
Qualified for her first final in 2025 in the Indian capital, Efremova will face Park Sohyun, a 23-year-old South Korean player ranked 288th in the WTA. The latter lost her first set of the week this Saturday but ultimately found the key against Mariia Tkacheva (2-6, 6-4, 6-3).
