Federer Opens Up About His Retirement: I've Completely Gotten Used to It and I'm Very Happy

Present as a golf fan at the highly prestigious and famous Masters in Augusta this weekend, Roger Federer gave an on-site interview for one of his sponsors.

He notably spoke about his retirement, which he is thoroughly enjoying, in remarks cited by our colleagues at L'Equipe:

Publicité

"I’ve completely gotten used to retirement, and I’m very happy about it. I feel full of energy. I’ve traveled a lot with my wife and family, which is something we’ve always wanted to do.

It was our dream to revisit certain places without having to think about training or matches. I often joke that I should have retired earlier because I’m so happy now.

I want to spend a lot of time with my children. My boys are 11, and my girls will soon be 16. It’s an ideal time to strengthen family bonds—we’re having a lot of fun."

Federer also mentioned his desire to return to the tennis court for exhibitions: "I’ve been very busy with my travels and the work of my foundation with my family. We went to South Africa to visit school projects aimed at helping children get a better education.

I’d like to play a little tennis again, get back into training, maybe two or three times a week. And I hope to do exhibitions again, filling stadiums around the world.

I haven’t planned anything yet, but I miss it. I’ve barely played since retiring—my body and mind needed a break.

I’ve played a little with my kids, but I’d like to get serious again. During my travels, I’ll ease back into it. And maybe you’ll see me on a court again soon."

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.

What a finish this is.. I believe King has used his boost for today. Skelp is closing strong. Two wins and he claims 1st if I lose my last prediction.

Gonna be difficult with only 2 pointers to choose from.

I propose the following changes to the rules:

1...a walķover will not be a loss. We have no control of player's health. If he or she is entered in a contest we expect them to play.

2...an incomplete match is not a loss. If a player forfeits we pick another match if there are more to choose.

3...this also applies if TT cancels a match. TT will not take hours to decide an outcome.

How about leavin...
