The incredible showdown between Arthur Fils and Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals of the Monte-Carlo Masters 1000 has just been named the most beautiful ATP match of the year, with Grand Slams being excluded from the competition.

The match started off perfectly for the Frenchman, who managed to break first, then double-break in quick succession.

But, little by little, the Spaniard managed to catch up to level at 4-4, before conceding his serve again. After saving two break points, Fils held on to win the first set 6-4.

In the second set, neither player managed to gain the upper hand, despite break points on both sides. It was ultimately Alcaraz who, after saving three break points, seized the Frenchman's serve and forced a decisive third set.

This end of the match was very uncertain. Despite having a break lead, Fils finally cracked and lost 4-6, 7-5, 6-3.

Hello I'm new

I am surprised about relatively low attendance at Roland Garros which was the most popular slam 20+ years ago. I myself love it as well as really loving aus and us opens. I don't care about Wimbledon, sometimes maybe I can watch women's tennis. I hate Wimbledon's white dress code, I feel like I am watching junior tennis...I watched very few matches like Graf davenport final in 1999 the last time.....
