Fonseca after his victory over Tsitsipas: "I hope Djokovic enjoyed the show"
Thanks to Joao Fonseca, Brazil continues its journey in the Davis Cup. After this successful weekend on Greek soil, the young talent spoke about Novak Djokovic's presence in the stands.
The Davis Cup weekend was filled with suspenseful matches. One of them pitted Stefanos Tsitsipas against Joao Fonseca in Athens yesterday.
In an electric atmosphere, the Brazilian emerged victorious after three sets (6-4, 3-6, 7-5), giving his nation the opportunity to compete in the first round of the event in 2026.
He achieved this success under the eyes of none other than Novak Djokovic, a new resident in Greece and seen in the stands at the beginning of the match. Fonseca couldn't help but react to this presence in his post-match interview:
"I understood that he was going to be in the stands. It was an honor to play in front of him and I hope he enjoyed the show."
