Haddad Maia ends her 2025 season: "I need to rest to come back stronger"
After a year marked by defeats and a drop in rankings, Beatriz Haddad Maia has decided to end her 2025 season. The Brazilian wants to turn the page and is already preparing her comeback.
A solid member of the top 20 at the start of 2025, Haddad Maia lost her footing over the months, falling to 40th place in the world rankings.
This was due to a series of seven consecutive defeats between the Australian Open and Madrid, and overall disappointing results, except for a semifinal in Strasbourg and a round of 16 at the US Open.
At the end of March, she also parted ways with French coach Maxime Tchoutakian, whose collaboration lasted only four months. With the aim of leaving behind this lackluster season, the player announced this Monday her withdrawal from the remaining tournaments.
"Hello everyone, I am announcing that I am ending my 2025 season a bit earlier than planned in order to rest my body and mind a bit longer. [...] Rest assured, I will come back stronger and the best is yet to come!" Haddad Maia wrote on Instagram.
