I would have a baby right away if I could," says Sabalenka
In an interview given to Alexander Sokolovskiy's YouTube channel, Aryna Sabalenka discussed motherhood. Even though for now she is prioritizing her sports career, the Belarusian showed herself very open to the idea of having children one day.
She explains: "At 18, I thought I would have won everything before I was 25, that at 25, I would give birth, come back, and keep on winning. Then I turned 25. I had won something, but I was thinking more about giving birth around 27 or 28.
Now, I'm 27. So, I tell myself: 'Let's postpone that.' For now, I just want to fully exploit my potential in my sport. To see how far I can go. It's a rather vague plan, in a way.
I would probably like to start a family in about five years or so, and then maybe attempt a comeback. But it will all depend on my personal situation. It's a difficult time because, if I could, I would have a baby right away.
I love children enormously. I would really like to have one, but for now, my career is my priority.
