"I'm in a different phase of my life," Nadal explains his absence from Wimbledon
As Wimbledon draws to a close, Rafael Nadal spoke in an interview shared by *Tennis Up To Date*. Indeed, after appearances by Federer, Roddick, and even Borg in the legendary Royal Box of Centre Court, many questioned the absence of the Majorcan, who retired in 2024. The 22-time Grand Slam champion wanted to clarify the situation:
"Honestly, no, I don’t regret not being there because my life has changed. I’m enjoying the tournament from a different perspective. I hope in the future I can return to Wimbledon. Right now, I’m in another phase of my life.
This is my first summer in Mallorca. After retiring, I was in bad shape for a month—I could barely walk. But now, I’m doing better than I could have imagined."
For context, Nadal played his last match in London during his quarterfinal victory over Fritz in 2022. Struggling with an abdominal injury, he had to withdraw from his highly anticipated showdown against Kyrgios.
