The Alcaraz-Sinner-Zverev Trio Makes History: A Feat Unseen Since Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic
In the Open Era, only five trios before them had achieved such a feat. In 2025, Alcaraz, Sinner, and Zverev completed another season together at the top of the ATP rankings.
The top trio composed of Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Alexander Zverev remained unchanged throughout the 2025 season. Only Alcaraz and Sinner repeatedly exchanged the world No. 1 spot, while Zverev, despite a difficult season, held on to his third place.
In the Open Era, Alcaraz, Sinner, and Zverev become the sixth trio to complete two consecutive seasons in the ATP rankings top 3.
Before them, five other trios had achieved this feat: Federer-Nadal-Djokovic (from 2007 to 2011, then again in 2018-2019), Edberg-Becker-Lendl (in 1989 and 1990), McEnroe-Lendl-Connors (from 1981 to 1984), Borg-Connors-McEnroe (in 1979 and 1980), and Connors-Borg-Vilas (in 1977 and 1978).
