"It's a very positive start to the season," Swiatek remains optimistic ahead of Wimbledon

Iga Swiatek will begin her grass-court season next week. The Polish player will compete in the Bad Homburg tournament for the second time in three years, followed immediately by Wimbledon.
Absent from this week's WTA 500 event in Berlin, the world No. 8 hasn’t played a single match since her semifinal loss at Roland Garros to Aryna Sabalenka.
Although she has been going through a tougher phase in recent months, Swiatek—who previously stated she wouldn’t change her on-court mentality—reflected on her preparation for the Paris Grand Slam in recent weeks and expressed satisfaction with her season so far.
"Sometimes there are months where everything goes well, and you feel like you don’t need to pay close attention to certain aspects of your game. I think all of us, whether in sports or other fields, know there are times when things get a bit harder.
Actually, during the tournaments before Roland Garros, I was way too hard on myself. That didn’t help me stay clear-headed when I needed to solve problems on the court the most.
Paradoxically, losing early in Rome was beneficial for me. It gave me time to regroup and think about what I didn’t like about how I was performing on the court. But these things don’t happen overnight.
Anyone working on themselves knows that improving in this area is just as challenging as working on other aspects. It was the right time to do it, and I think we saw positive results in Paris.
I was really focused during the preparation to implement some of the changes Wim (Fissette, her coach) wanted to make. Overall, I’d say it’s been a very positive start to the season. And I’m also proud of the work I put in before Roland Garros.
I wanted to regroup, to be ready to fight for the biggest goals in Grand Slams and to react when things aren’t going the way I want," Swiatek told Sport.pl in recent days.
