Ivanisevic on his coaching role with Rybakina: "I'm here for the moment".
Goran Ivanisevic has set himself a new challenge for this year 2025 by joining Elena Rybakina's team as head coach.
The Croatian, who has enjoyed many successful years with Novak Djokovic, didn't expect this new collaboration to become controversial before it had even begun.
After the announced return of Stefano Vukov, Rybakina's ex-coach, followed by his provisional suspension by the WTA, Ivanisevic found himself in the middle of a tricky situation.
While the New York Times revealed that he had been "caught off guard" by the choice of his new protégée, Ivanisevic broke his silence in front of journalist Ben Rothenberg :
"Look, the investigation is still ongoing, so we're waiting for the WTA to finish it. And then I can discuss it.
But for now, I've spoken to Elena and told her what I think.
I'm here for the moment. I don't know what's going to happen in a few days.
But for now, I'm here. I hope I'll stay and everything will be fine."
