Krejcikova Nearing a Return to Competition: "Doctors Have Given Me the Green Light"
Absent since November 2024 and her semifinal loss at the WTA Finals due to a back injury, Barbora Krejcikova has not played a single match in 2025.
After recently explaining that she wasn’t sure if she could step back on court without pain, the 29-year-old Czech, ranked 15th in the world, is now close to making her long-awaited return to the WTA tour.
The two-time Grand Slam singles champion (at Roland Garros in 2021 and Wimbledon in 2024), who withdrew from the WTA 500 in Stuttgart last week, hopes to return during the ongoing clay-court season.
Krejcikova, who recently posted a photo of herself training, is on the right track, as she explained to *Tennis Up To Date*.
"I’ve reached the stage where I can do everything—the doctors have given me the green light to resume training. Little by little, I’m getting back to playing tennis, three or four times a week.
I’m really sad that I haven’t been able to play for a good part of this year. I wish my injury hadn’t been so severe and that my recovery had been quicker, but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.
My health is improving slowly but surely. I hope to be able to compete at Roland Garros, but if I can return before then, I’d be very happy," Krejcikova elaborated.
