Krejcikova, still recovering, withdraws from the WTA 1000 in Indian Wells
Barbora Krejcikova's return to the WTA circuit will have to wait a bit longer. The Czech player, ranked 16th in the world, hasn't played any official matches in 2025 and had withdrawn from the Australian Open due to a back injury.
The winner of Wimbledon last year is once again forced to delay her return to competition. While the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells starts on March 5, the 29-year-old player will not be present in California.
The American tournament's organization announced the news on its X account (formerly Twitter), confirming that Krejcikova's name will not appear during this year's women's draw.
The former world number 2 hasn't played an official competition match since her defeat in the semifinals of the WTA Finals in Riyadh against Zheng Qinwen on November 8.
Krejcikova already missed the 2024 edition of Indian Wells and will miss the Californian tournament for the second consecutive season.
This withdrawal benefits Julia Grabher. The 28-year-old Austrian will enter the main draw in place of Krejcikova.
