Lois Boisson Withdraws from Miami Open, Extends Injury Layoff
While fans hoped for a return in Florida, Lois Boisson will not be competing at the prestigious WTA 1000 in Miami (March 17-29).
After already skipping the Australian Open, the Middle Eastern tour, and Indian Wells, the Dijon native is extending her absence.
A Prolonged Absence
Since her withdrawal in the third round of the WTA 1000 in Beijing on September 29, 2025, Boisson's season has come to an abrupt halt.
Initially hampered by a left adductor injury and then a quadriceps tear, the French player faced another setback during the offseason: a right forearm injury.
Focus on Clay Courts
Her return will not happen on American hard courts. According to the provisional schedule, Lois Boisson is expected to resume competition in April, possibly at the WTA 250 in Rouen (April 13-19).
Another option could disrupt these plans: a first call-up to the French team for the Billie Jean King Cup in Oeiras, from April 7 to 11.
A Protected Ranking
After more than six months away from the tour, Boisson will be able to use a protected ranking – estimated around world No. 35 – for eight tournaments over a one-year period.
This is because the world No. 37 must defend 1,347 points between March and October.
