Mannarino recounts one of his matches against Federer: "When the announcer said Roger's name, it was like an earthquake"
In a recent video posted by UTS, where Adrian Mannarino, Richard Gasquet, and David Goffin sit together and share their various experiences, the former world No. 17 talked about the feeling of facing one of the legends of the game, Roger Federer.
Mannarino, who has lost all seven of his matches against the Swiss, recalled one of his most memorable moments during a third-round match at the 2013 US Open:
"One of the moments I remember the most was when I had to play Roger in a night session at the US Open.
A third round on a Saturday night. You could feel that everyone had come to see him play and they couldn't wait any longer.
When I walked onto the court, I only heard a few claps. When the announcer said Roger's name, it was like an earthquake.
I was stressed because I wasn't playing well at the time. And I thought to myself, 'I'm going to get destroyed in front of everyone.' You blink in the first three games, and you're already down 3-0."
Mannarino lost that day with a score of 6-3, 6-0, 6-2 against Federer.
