Marin Cilic Defies Age at 37: Returns to Top 50 and Reaches 68th Career Semifinal
At 37 years old, Marin Cilic seems to have found a second wind in Dallas.
The Croatian veteran defeated qualifier Jack Pinnington Jones (6-1, 6-4) this Friday to reach the 68th semifinal of his career, the fourth-highest total among active players.
He is only surpassed by Gaël Monfils (73), Alexander Zverev (79), and Novak Djokovic (200).
Back in the Top 50
In addition to this achievement, Cilic will return to the top 50 on Monday, virtually ranked 43rd in the world, his best ranking since June 2023. After two knee surgeries, the 2014 US Open champion proves he still has plenty left in the tank.
He now awaits the winner of the match between Taylor Fritz and Sebastian Korda in the semifinals of the Texas tournament.
