Medvedev: 'Experience is both an asset and a burden'
In an interview with the Russian media outlet Kommersant, Daniil Medvedev was asked about his experience, having turned 30 a few weeks ago. For him, experience is not entirely beneficial.
'Parasitic thoughts'
He stated: 'It's both an asset and a burden. In the later stages of major tournaments, especially against an opponent who is there for the first time, experience is often valuable. After all, you've already been in similar situations and know how to handle them.
But with age, you quickly face parasitic thoughts that you have to control. It's a bit like a child who sees a black cat ignores it, while an adult would think their day is ruined. So, I'm currently learning to chase away all unnecessary thoughts, before and during a match, and I think I'm doing pretty well.'
