Originally set to face Leylah Fernandez in the opening round in Adelaide, Mirra Andreeva benefited from Jessica Pegula's withdrawal to take her spot in the draw.

Faces Joint or Tomljanovic Next

She thus received a bye in the first round and faced Marie Bouzkova in the second round, who had defeated Paula Badosa. Despite an early break for the Czech player, Andreeva delivered a solid performance in 1 hour and 10 minutes of play.

She won with a score of 6-3, 6-1. Having qualified for the quarterfinals, she will face the winner of the all-Australian duel between Maya Joint and Ajla Tomljanovic.
