Naomi Osaka Reveals Her Bold Australian Open Outfit: 'Nike Gave Me Carte Blanche'
Naomi Osaka won a hard-fought first-round match at the Australian Open, needing three sets (6-3, 3-6, 6-4).
Beyond her on-court performance, the former world No. 1 also turned heads with a particularly bold outfit. A spectacular ensemble, more reminiscent of a red carpet or fashion runway than a tennis court, which she wore during her entrance.
"Nike Allowed Me to Design This Outfit"
As expected, Osaka was asked after the match about the meaning of this unique outfit. The player then detailed its origin and the message she wanted to convey:
"Nike gave me carte blanche to design this outfit. It's inspired by a jellyfish. I feel extremely lucky to be able to make a living doing what I love. And yes, I think it's really beautiful.
The butterfly on the hat and umbrella refers to my victory at the Australian Open 2021, even though that was already a few years ago."
