'Not Sure It's That Appealing': Henman on Sinner-Alcaraz Dominance
On the Off Court with Greg podcast, Tim Henman discussed the rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz and their dominance on tour. He also named their main rivals who have struggled to assert themselves long-term.
He stated: “Can anyone close the gap? I don’t really see it right now. Last year at this time, the one knocking on the door was Jack Draper. But he needs to build that physical resilience. He’s had physical issues at various stages of his career.
“Zverev’s positioning is too defensive”
Zverev was disappointing toward the end of last year, but he played good tennis at times. He has assets he could exploit better, like his serve at a 75% success rate and very powerful. However, his court positioning is too defensive.
Djokovic’s semifinal performance in Australia was phenomenal, and I don’t think anyone saw it coming. His aggressive play, flawless down-the-line shots, were extremely impressive, but ultimately, he couldn’t maintain that level.
I love Sinner and Alcaraz—they’re excellent players and great guys—but if they play all the Grand Slam finals, I’m not sure it’s so appealing.”
