"She told me things that made me even more emotional," Anisimova reflects on Princess Kate's presence at Wimbledon
Defeated in a tough final (6-0, 6-0) at Wimbledon, Anisimova expressed her deep sadness during her on-court speech. Having fallen outside the top 300 a little over a year ago following a voluntary break, the American had fought hard to regain her form. Fortunately, the 23-year-old player could rely on the support of Princess Kate, patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club:
"I wasn’t sure she would come today, so it was really nice to see her. She told me things that made me even more emotional. She was very kind and told me to keep my head up."
A regular at Wimbledon, Kate Middleton has also faced a very difficult period, having battled cancer in 2024—an ordeal she has admitted she is still struggling to recover from. This year, she was able to attend the legendary English tournament accompanied by Prince William and their two children.
