Sinner and Alcaraz are too good," concedes Djokovic after his elimination in the US Open semifinals
In the final Grand Slam of the season, Novak Djokovic was eliminated in the semifinals, as was already the case at the Australian Open, Roland-Garros, and Wimbledon.
The man with 24 Majors, after having lost to Jannik Sinner twice, experienced the same scenario this Friday in New York against Carlos Alcaraz. A reality he addressed during his press conference:
"Unfortunately, I had no energy left after the second set. I think I had enough energy to compete with him for two sets, but after that, I was exhausted. It will be very difficult for me in the future to beat Sinner and Alcaraz in best-of-five-set matches. I lost to them in three of the four Grand Slams. They are simply too good.
That said, I will continue to fight to play in finals and try to win another trophy. I still want to play the Grand Slams next year. We'll see if that happens or not. But I think I have better chances in best-of-three-set, week-long tournaments, like the Masters. That could be more favorable for me in matches against them.
