Sinner's Anecdote: Mom, you survived Paris, so you can overcome anything

In an interview shared by Tennis World Italia, Jannik Sinner discussed how he views his profession, as well as the relationship his loved ones have with the pressure during major events.

"God gave me the talent to play tennis and to have this physique, because with ten fewer centimeters in height, I would have had a much harder time. That's why I consider myself the luckiest person in the world.

Regarding my family, three years ago, my mother told me: 'I don't want to be in your box, but if you reach the final of a Grand Slam in Europe, I want to be there.'

At first, I laughed, because I thought it would never happen. Then I reached the Roland-Garros final. So she came and, like in Rome, I lost. Afterwards, I told her: 'Look, you overcame the Paris final, so you can overcome anything.'

But when she warned me she was coming to Wimbledon, I didn't want to tell her, but I thought it would be my last chance (laughs).

Now, she has sought advice from Riccardo Ceccarelli, the mental coach. And even though she is progressing slowly, you can see that she no longer smiles, she is very focused, and she doesn't even applaud during my matches anymore."
