Swiatek Ahead of Gauff Rematch: 'No Sense Focusing on Last Year's Match'
The United Cup 2026 is nearing its conclusion, and for the second year in a row, Poland and the United States face off in a do-or-die match.
Last year, Iga Swiatek and Hubert Hurkacz had the trophy within reach before falling to a dominant American team (2-0 defeat in the final).
Swiatek Rejects Revenge Talk
On the eve of her clash with Gauff, Iga Swiatek dismisses the idea of revenge after her 6-4, 6-4 defeat last year:
"An entire year in our lives is a very long time. It would make no sense to focus on a match that happened last year.
Coco (Gauff) and I know our styles. The key will be to focus on myself, apply what I've worked on during the preseason, and be brave in my decisions."
Schedule below (Saturday, January 10, from 7:30 a.m. French time):
Match 1: T. Fritz vs. H. Hurkacz
Match 2: C. Gauff vs. I. Swiatek
Deciding doubles: C. Gauff / C. Harrison vs. I. Swiatek / H. Hurkacz
The winner of this matchup will face Switzerland or Belgium in the final.
