Swiatek crushes Yastremska to reach the Indian Wells round of 16
Defending champion Iga Swiatek put on a masterclass this Sunday against Dayana Yastremska, conceding only two games to her opponent throughout the match (6-0, 6-2).
After delivering a 6-2, 6-0 defeat to Caroline Garcia in the previous round, Swiatek was once again ruthless against her opponent of the day, whom she had recently beaten in Dubai with a score of 7-5, 6-0.
From the start of the match, the Polish player seemed to have taken control, while Yastremska made a series of unforced errors. After just 31 minutes of play, the world No. 2 comfortably won the first set before taking the first four games of the second set.
Far too strong for the Ukrainian, Swiatek did not concede a single break point in the match.
After two rounds that were very, if not too easy for the defending champion, things could start to get complicated against Karolina Muchova in the round of 16, if the latter manages to defeat Katerina Siniakova today.
