That wasn't tennis, it was torture," Bublik teases Cerundolo after winning Gstaad tournament
For the first time in his career, Alexander Bublik has won a tournament on clay, becoming the 14th active player on the circuit to hold a title on each surface.
Though he’s grown fond of playing on clay, Bublik still struggled against his opponent’s tactics in the final, Juan Manuel Cerundolo. He even let him know during the handshake and in his speech:
"First of all, Juan, as I told you at the net, that wasn’t tennis. It was torture (smiles). This is my sixth title, and I’ve played against the greatest, but I’ll remember this final as one of the toughest I’ve ever played. So congrats to you and your team, it was really great.
