The Date for the Roland-Garros Singles Draw Revealed
This year, Roland-Garros will host a unique edition, and for several reasons. It will be the first year the Parisian Grand Slam takes place since Rafael Nadal’s retirement.
Crowned 14 times on the Parisian clay between 2005 and 2022, the Spanish champion will be honored by the tournament organizers on Sunday, May 25, the opening day of the event.
For this 2025 Roland-Garros, Richard Gasquet, a big name in French tennis, will also retire, as he announced at the end of last year, after his 22nd participation in the tournament.
Tournament director Amélie Mauresmo has announced several new features this year, including a schedule change for the second men’s semifinal on the second Friday of the competition, the creation of a free fan zone at Place de la Concorde, and Yannick Noah Day, which will feature exhibition matches.
With one month to go before the tournament begins, we now know the date for the singles draw. While the qualifying draw will be revealed on Sunday, May 18, the ceremony for the main ATP and WTA singles draws will take place on Thursday, May 22.
By then, the tournament organizers will have announced the players receiving wild cards. Among them, Richard Gasquet is expected to be granted one, as he is now ranked 142nd in the world.
