"The last few months have been completely crazy," says the revelation Joint
Maya Joint has had a very good year in 2025. The 19-year-old Australian player has won her first two WTA tour tournaments in recent months. She thus claimed the WTA 250 titles in Rabat and Eastbourne, reaching her best ranking (32nd) by the end of the season. Joint does not want to stop there, but she primarily wants to enjoy her very positive personal journey.
"The last few months have been completely crazy. I've had a truly amazing adventure, and I'm thrilled to see that I continue to improve. I don't know exactly what brought me to this level, but I want to keep enjoying it. I've worked on and off the court, mentally as well. I also don't know how I managed to win these two titles.
"Playing a third round in a Grand Slam"
I simply took the matches one after another, without thinking too much about the ranking. Sometimes, when I look back and see everything that happened at the very beginning of my career, I look at some photos on my phone and think: 'That's starting to feel like a while ago!' But in reality, not that long. I forget that I'm only 19," said Joint, who already has goals in mind for next season.
"I try not to have too many ranking-related goals, but I believe realistic performances could include reaching a quarterfinal in a WTA 1000, a third round in a Grand Slam, and perhaps a semifinal in a WTA 500.
More broadly, I'll also need to work on my forehand, backhand, and mindset, and do everything to become a versatile player," concluded Joint for Punto de Break.
