The WTA wants to continue working with Saudi Arabia: Working with them is good for our sport.

This year, the WTA organized the first women's tennis tournament in Saudi Arabia, none other than the Masters.

A choice criticized by many observers, but which ultimately convinced the WTA and also the players during the competition.

Speaking to SportsPro, WTA Commercial Director Marina Storti explained the reasons behind the decision to hold the Masters in Saudi Arabia: "We saw that the Saudi Federation is capable of organizing a high-level event.

We wanted to help the players' economic growth by offering them the chance to win a substantial prize money.

Finally, we wanted to work with a partner who would not only help us to grow the tournament, but that this decision would have a repercussion for tennis in the long term."

And at a time when the WTA seems, more often than not, to be suffering from visibility, Marina Storti sees Saudi Arabia as a solution to these problems: "Working with them is good for our sport. There's a fan base that's growing.

We're not just helping existing markets, we're creating new ones. We're expanding our sources of growth."
