"They are sabotaging the tour": Mariano Navone's anger against the ATP
The South American clay court tour, better known as the Golden Swing, seems increasingly weakened by recent calendar adjustments made by the ATP.
Now reduced to three weeks — compared to four previously — it includes the tournaments in Buenos Aires, Rio, and Santiago.
"They are sabotaging the tour"
Mariano Navone, a regular at these clay court events, expressed his dissatisfaction with the ATP in an interview relayed by Tennisnews.
The Argentine player shared his doubts about the future of these tournaments, which are extremely popular in South America.
"This whole situation is strange, it's complicated. The ATP's decisions are sometimes a bit controversial. I feel like they are sabotaging the tour. This is the tour that sells the most tickets.
It's really a shame, because our country has an incredible tennis tradition. They are ruining everything. These are tournaments that fill the stands, I don't understand their logic."
