"This Alcaraz, aged 22, is the most talented young player I have ever seen," McEnroe effusive about the Spaniard
In an interview with ESPN, former champion John McEnroe discussed the case of world number two, Carlos Alcaraz. Effusive, he explained that the Spaniard was the most gifted young player he had ever seen on the tour.
"If both play at their best level, then Alcaraz is better than Sinner. This Alcaraz, at 21-22 years old, is the most talented young player I have ever seen on a tennis court.
Alcaraz is the most talented kid I have ever seen. More than Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic, for whom I have a lot of respect. I idolized Rod Laver, I adored Sampras. But the Spaniard has the complete game."
Currently at the US Open, Alcaraz has won his first two rounds without a hitch. For a spot in the round of 16, he will face the Italian Darderi (34th).
